A New Year to Look Forward to!

I know I am a little late at getting to this but Happy New Year! I probably wouldn't have been able to get this written if we had school today (I will be able to write more often because of snow days!) This last week has flown by for me, I went to the Missouri Cattlemen's Association Convention down at Tan-Tar-A Resort in the Ozarks.
I didn't go to many of the sessions because I am a junior member but I did go to one that specified why beef is an important industry. For example, one serving of beef (3 oz.) provides the same amount of protein as seven tablespoons of peanut butter. The smallest steak sold at restaurants is 6 oz. Even the smallest portion served has more nutritional value than most protein concentrated food. We also learned how to handle any media situation if a negative incident happened on our farm.
We discussed the nutritional importance of beef.

Later that night the junior members went bowling, my brother Jake and I went. They didn't have an electronic scoring system, I attempted to keep track for 1 1/2 rounds, then got confused. So we just decided to bowl and not worry about who was winning.
Jake was getting the hang of it.

I had a great time at the convention and I learned a lot. It was a great way to start a new year that I know will be full of opportunities for me in agriculture!
