Thank a Farmer!

Today is the second snow day for me this week, and probably not the last! So while I am sitting around trying to keep myself occupied, I have an announcement! This fine blizzard of week  is 'Thank a Farmer Week'. Go out into the weather and thank your friendly neighborhood farmer!  I am sure they would appreciate it (bringing a cup of hot coffee wouldn't hurt either)!

My family has owned our farm for over a century. In 1907 my great-great-great grandpa Morrow bought 410 acres south of Harrisonville. Today we use the land mainly to raise and maintain our Angus-based cattle herd.

I didn't have much to say, but to thank a farmer. There was a quote I found-- "My Grandfather used to say that once in your life you need a doctor, a lawyer, a policeman and a preacher, but everyday, three times a day, you need a farmer."-- Brenda Shoepp. Farmers raise the produce and meat we eat every day, something I know we all need. What I am trying to say is don't be too quick to point the finger at farmers, they work hard to feed a large population with a small amount of land. They may not have a high paying job, but their dedication to what they do is important.
